Stages of repair.

There are 10 stages within the repair cycle. Our goal is to complete the cycle within 20 days, however stages 2-10 take approx 7 days on average, and we will endeavour to keep you informed throughout the cycle. Your repairs are guaranteed inline with your Insurance policy terms.

Stage 1. Notification of loss from your Insurance company.
Commonly known as instructions for GVS to log your details, then contact you to arrange an estimate or recovery if your vehicle is not driveable and to check your eligibility for a courtesy car.
Stage 2. Booked on site.
When the vehicle comes on site by recovery or bringing the vehicle in for repair, we may be handing a courtesy car over to you, so relevant hire paperwork needs to be completed. You will be required to submit a drivers license nunber for a courtesy car.
Stage 3. Estimation.
The car will be assessed and an electronic estimate will be transmitted with images to your Insurance Company. Some Insurers can take 48 hours to engineer and authorise repairs. At this stage you can discuss any retail repairs when our estimator calls you with an update.
Stage 4. Authorisation.
At this stage parts will be ordered and the vehicle goes into production. Parts can take 24-48 hours to arrive. Occasionally, parts go onto 'back order' which means the the dealers have no parts available. This can last a few days, or even a few weeks. We will keep you advised on this situation.
Stage 5. Strip.
As the major parts arrive the car gets stripped down. Mechanical repairs to suspension, and electrics may also happen to ensure the vehicle is mobile, depending on the severity of the damage.
Stage 6. Panel work.
This is where larger repairs are undertaken, again additional new panels could be required if the original components are beyond repair. Most Insurance companies will encourage repairing damaged panels accordingly.
Stage 7. Paint.
This where the new or repaired panels go along to with the car for preparation, priming and painting so that the fitting shop are able re-build the car back together.
Stage 8. Refit stage.
Cars are reassembled, this could reveal faults with SRS systems, parking sensors etc which were not testable in the cars damaged state. The car may need diagnostics by the Manufacturer to re-set the relevant faults.
Stage 9. Check and Clean.
The final stage before the car is complete. Checks are completed and you can upgrade the level by choosing to pay a minimum of £15 for a mini valet. Reception will call you to arrange a handover appointment.
Stage 10. Handover.
The cars are exchanged at the site, or returned to you by GVS drivers. You will need to make payment for any excess/retail repairs before we can release the car by means of cash, credit or debit card.
